Ingrid Margit Wetmore, 91, of Pleasanton, California, whose warm smile brightened every room, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 10, 1934, in Mannheim, Germany, to Margareta and Erwin Bossong, Ingrid grew up as an only child. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished her trips to visit relatives in Teisendorf, Bavaria, a place she always compared to the scenery of The Sound of Music, often remarking on how breathtaking the Alps were.

While working as a translator at the U.S. Army Headquarters in Heidelberg, Ingrid met Stu Wetmore, who was stationed there with the Army. After dating in secret, they married in Rohrbach, Germany, on August 8, 1959. Later that year, on December 13, Ingrid took a leap of faith, flying from Frankfurt to Los Angeles to begin her new life in California with Stu.

The couple lived in Santa Barbara before moving to San Francisco in 1961, where their son Sven was born in 1964. The family later lived in Palatine, Illinois, from 1966 to 1979, welcoming their son Erik in 1968.

Ingrid loved the changing Midwest seasons, which reminded her of home in Germany, and the family enjoyed many camping trips around Lake Michigan in Door County, Wisconsin. Thanks to Stu’s career with United Airlines, the family also enjoyed memorable trips to favorite destinations, including Heidelberg, Santa Barbara, and Maui.

Ingrid took great joy in cooking, ensuring her family enjoyed healthy, delicious meals every day, though her personal favorite remained classic sauerkraut. Omi made sure the whole family had all of her favorite recipes including Pork Roast with gravy, Spaetzle and Rot Kraut or “Red Cabbage.” And Christmas gift giving could not start until the family all sang “Stille Nacht” or “Silent Night” as our annual tradition.

Known affectionately as “Inte” to her friends, Ingrid began her sales career with Tupperware and Avon Cosmetics. This spark led to a fulfilling, 44-year career as a Realtor from 1979 until her retirement at age 89, guiding home buyers and sellers in both Salt Lake City, Utah, and the Pleasanton, California area. Her motto was “Real Estate with a Personal Touch”. She truly loved helping people find their perfect home, and many of her clients became lifelong friends. Her fellow agents especially looked forward to her famous homemade deviled eggs, which she brought to broker tours to draw crowds to her listings.

Active and social throughout her life, Ingrid went to water aerobics four to five times a week. She adored the water and cherished her "swimming friends" from all over the world. She kept in close contact with her family and best friends in Germany, stayed involved in the Pleasanton community through her local realtor network, Bunco group, and Newcomers Group, and loved spending time with family at "the cabin" in Arnold.

Ingrid, known affectionately as "Omi" to so many, is survived by her sons Sven and Erik, his wife Emily; her four beloved grandchildren, Danielle, Justin, Jackie, and Lexi; Tante Karin, Tante Pam, her dear friend, Tante Irm; and a host of extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She lived well, laughed often, and loved deeply. She is dearly missed.
