Marilyn Joyce Slade
Jan. 9, 1930-Oct. 3, 2023
Pleasanton, California

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt passed away peacefully in her home.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, Marilyn attended the University of Wisconsin, earning a BS in Childhood Development and Education. Here she met and married John Slade. They raised five children, each born in a different state.

After living in nine states and fifteen residences, Marilyn and John retired in Pleasanton. They were married for 63 wonderful years.

She loved writing poetry and short stories, reading books, and traveling extensively in the US and abroad. She was involved in many clubs and activities, including Friends of the Pleasanton Library, AAUW Wordsmith Writing Group, Tri Valley Writers Club, VIP Club at the Pleasanton Senior Center, and the Encore Luncheon Group.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Scott Slade (Sara) of Sunnyvale, Holly Moen (Jim) of Davis, Nancy Kraemer of Pleasanton, Douglas Slade (Debbie) of Stafford, VA, and Carolyn McCarthy (Kevin) of Rumson, NJ. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
