On May 6, 1961, she married her childhood sweetheart, Andrew (Bud) Behanna, who lived across the street since the age of 14. She worked at Brockway Glass Plant 7 as a packer for several years, and then went to work at the family business, Comforts Cleaners, until the family moved to Livermore, CA in 1980, after her husband was relocated.
