Shirley Ann Macchiano
Feb. 7, 1942-Sept. 30, 2025
Pleasanton, California

Shirley Ann Macchiano peacefully passed away on the morning of September 30th at the age of 83. Shirley was predeceased by her Father Gino Molinaro, Mother Mary Molinaro and brother Robert Molinaro. Shirley will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 62 years, Tony Macchiano - Children Michelle Macchiano, Anthony Macchiano and Scott Macchiano - Grandchildren Evan Eacret, Madison Eacret-Black (Michelle), Kyle Neves, Madden Macchiano and Dominic Macchiano (Anthony).

Shirley was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Francisco on February 7,1942. She grew up in Daly City and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959. After graduating high school, she worked for IBM in San Francisco. Together with friends from her grammar school days, Shirley enjoyed bowling at Castle Lanes in Daly City. This is where Shirley met her soon to be husband Anthony (Tony) Macchiano. On January 26, 1963, Shirley Ann Molinaro became Mrs. Anthony Macchiano at The Church of the Visitation in San Francisco. Tony and Shirley purchased their first home in San Bruno. Shirley was a homemaker caring for their newborn daughter Michelle, while Tony made a living plastering high-rise buildings in San Francisco. In 1969, Shirley (pregnant with twins), Tony, Michelle, Gino & Mary Molinaro, Robert & Carol Molinaro, and their two children Gina and Kent moved across the Bay to Pleasanton to start their family business Pleasanton Garbage Service.

Shirley loved raising her family and making friends in the small town of Pleasanton. She was also ever present at countless charity and community fundraising events along with Tony. She always did her part to help make Pleasanton a wonderful place. Her passions were bowling, tennis, and golfing with her friends on the Castlettes and Nine Holer’s at Castlewood Country Club. Shirley also loved to travel with her family and good friends. Family vacation meant everything to her. Especially when all the grandkids were able to join in on the fun. She was the best Nonni to all 5 of her grandchildren and they will miss her dearly.

Shirley made an impression on all the people she met. Everyone was a friend, and most importantly, she recognized the good you brought into the world. She never missed a beat to acknowledge someone’s amazing qualities and thoughtfulness.
